Statement by the Cambodian Human Rights Committee: “Indiscriminate attacks by the Thai military on Cambodia is a war crime and a grave violation of human rights”
On 11 December 2025, the Cambodian Human Rights Committee (CHRC) issued a statement condemning the brutal attacks by the Thai military, led by Thai Region 2 Commander Mr. Weerayuth Raksil and Thai Region 1 Commander Mr. Worayos Luangsuwan, using all types of weapons, including toxic smoke, against civilian areas in five provinces and destroying ancient temples. The CHRC reported that as of the morning of 11 December 2025, 10 civilians were killed, 50 were injured, and nearly 200,000 people were displaced. The CHRC labeled these acts as a war crime and a grave violation of human rights and international humanitarian law, announcing it would submit urgent petitions to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to launch an independent investigation and demand accountability, and urging the international community to pressure Thailand to cease these illegal activities immediately.
